table of contents for journals

through email alerts and rss feeds*

* What is an RSS Feed?

There are various ways to find out if a journal has an alert service available. Depending on the publisher, some journals provide both email alerting and RSS feeds; others only one of the two; and others offer neither. Below, we are pointing out two of the most stable venues as to what is available in the alerting world.

1. Search the Web for the journal title

  • Do a Google search for the title of the journal. For example: "Asian Philosophy". Include the apostrophees to search as a phrase. Select the journal in the Google search results. It should be on top or near the top. You will find a link to Email Contents Alerting on the left side of its webpage.

2. Find your title in one of the electronic journal collections that W&L subscribes to

  • Many electronic journal collections we subscribe to have an alert service.
  • Find the link to the "Publications" list. Sometimes this will be called "Sources", or other such names. Select the journal you want the TOC for, and sign up from there. When you get an email alert, or your RSS feed, you can directly go to the full-text of these articles.
