Description: Contains the complete texts of over 250 volumes published since the 1960's in this prestigious series of authoritative works on major historical topics. Several series are still active and new volumes will be added to the database as published, as will any new series when they begin.
Usage Tips: You may browse among individual volumes or search for content within a certain subject or across the entire collection.

Browse   When you click on "Browse," you will see a list of 15 subject categories. You can open any of these categories, such as "Political and Social Theory," by clicking on its title. You then can see a list of volumes in the series, any of which can be opened by clicking on the title of the individual volume. The subsequent page displays the volume's table of contents (lower right).
When you click on a broad "part" or section, you will see a list of chapters within that part. When you click on the chapter you want, you will see an overview of that chapter, with an option to "view full chapter" (above the chapter title), which will open a PDF file.

Search   The search box on the home page (upper right) provides the ability to search through the entire database. The search boxes on all other pages offer the choice of searching the "all content" or an individual category or volume. You can search the content of any subject category or volume by browsing to that level (as above) and then using the "Search" box (upper right).
The "Advanced search" option (under the "Search" box) allows you to perform more complex or focused searches.
Note: To search for a multi-word phrase, enclose the words within quotation marks. Example: "manifest destiny"
