Finding Books and Videos

The Washington and Lee library catalog is called Annie (annie.wlu.edu). Annie refers you to the holdings of all campus libraries. If you know the author and/or title, just type this in.

The Keyword option is easiest to use when beginning a research project (when you do not know how much may be available on a topic). It is also useful for its ability to combine two or more words in a single search, and for the possibility of truncating a word to search for all forms of that word.

Note:   confedera* will find confederate, confederacy, confederation, etc.

           phrases like "death penalty" need to be in quotation marks.

The LC Subject Heading option is best for use in researching very broad topics, and/or a topic about which many books have been written.

In most cases we recommend you begin with a Keyword search, and then check the subject headings at the bottom of the record.
