Computing Services
Summer Scholars -- Law and Society / Policy Making in a Global Context

According to University Computing, each Summer Scholars participant will be issued a user ID and password for Novell, GroupWise and BlackBoard. The username is generally the last name and first initial, but not always if a previous account exists that conflicts with the new user. Initially the password is a 7-digit number but will be changed to whatever the student wants.
While there is no set limit on "free" printing on the campus network, "excessive printing" will result in additional charges.

Remember -- Be sure to log OUT whenever you finish a network session. Otherwise, the next person using the same machine will have access to your files and accounts, including e-mail.

Summer Scholars students may use the following computing labs on campus:

  • Leyburn Library, Main Floor
  • Leyburn Library, Room 101
  • Huntley Hall/Williams School, Room 322
  • Newcomb Hall, Room 29
  • Parmly Hall, Room 313
  • Telford Science Library.
In addition, students with laptops can use the wired "fish-bowl" rooms on Lower Levels 2, 3 and 4 in Leyburn Library. (These rooms are located between the public elevators and restrooms.)

A description of the campus wireless service is here, including a list of viable locations.

If you have trouble with the campus network, you can contact the University Computing Help Desk (on the Main Floor of Leyburn Library), which is staffed 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday-through-Friday.
