LETTERS OF THE LEE FAMILY
These letters comprise part of the Robert E. Lee Papers (064 collection) in the Special Collections of the James Graham Leyburn Library at Washington and Lee University. These letters are especially rich in the writings of Mary Anne Randolph Custis Lee (1807-1873), wife (1831-1870) of Robert E. Lee. There are also a number of undated letters from Lee's daughter, Agnes Lee (1841-1873). Transcriptions of these and other Lee-related letters were done by Capt. Robert C Peniston (USN - Retired) from 1998 through 2005. Capt. Peniston continues to work on other projects.
