Carrels

The University Library has approximately 500 carrels which can be reserved for use by individual students for the entire academic year. As demand for carrels may sometimes exceed the supply, students are advised to register for a carrel during the first week of Fall Term.

  • Carrel registration begins at 8:30 a.m. the first day of classes in Leyburn.
  • Carrel registration begins at 7:45 a.m. the first day of classes in Telford Science.
  • To claim a carrel, select one on lower levels 1, 2, 3, or 4. All available carrels will have slips of paper with a carrel numbers assigned to them.
  • Bring the paper, along with your University I.D. card, to the Circulation Desk and the carrel will be checked out to you for the whole academic year.

Locked Studies

Leyburn Library has 31 locked studies that are assigned according to the following priorities and time periods:
  1. Seniors who are writing honors theses. Assigned for the academic year.
  2. Faculty members doing research. Assigned on a one-term basis.
  3. Upperclassmen writing papers that require extensive library research. Assigned on a one-term basis.

Individuals wishing to apply for a locked study should inquire in the University Librarian's office, or use the form below.

THE DEADLINE FOR FALL REQUESTS IS SEPTEMBER 12, 2008.
