Patrick Hinely Exhibit

A sample of the work of renowned photographer Patrick Hinely is on display in Leyburn Library’s Main Floor lobby until the end of October.
A 1973 graduate of Washington and Lee, Hinely is now in his twenty-ninth year as University Photographer. We all know his work from the University calendar and the University website, such as the evening light on the columns, snow falling on Lee Chapel, and students at graduation.
However, outside the academy Hinely is best known for his photography of musicians and others involved in the creation and performance of jazz. His work has been internationally recognized through many awards, and his “Jazz People” are reproduced on calendars, CD covers and booklets, LP albums, and elsewhere. The library display focuses on these materials.
Concurrently, Hinely’s “Jazz People” photography is displayed in large format in the Staniar Gallery in Wilson Hall through mid-October.
