Darwin on Display

A new Boatwright Room exhibit features Charles Darwin and his groundbreaking theory of evolution.
The year 2009 marks the 200th anniversary of Darwin’s birth, as well as the 150th anniversary of the publication of his monumental volume, On the Origin of Species. The current exhibit includes Special Collections’ first edition of that publication, originally a gift of former Washington and Lee biology professor William Dana Hoyt.
The exhibit also includes material contributed by by current W&L biology professors Helen I’Anson, John Knox, and Larry Hurd and professor emeritus Cleve Hickman..
The Boatwright Room is located next to Special Collections, on Lower level 1 of Leyburn Library, and is open to the public Monday-through-Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
