New Graduates and W&L Computing

Some of the Washington and Lee University computing services which graduating seniors (Class of 2009) have used during their time at W&L will become unavailable soon, while others will continue.
Network Access
New graduates will continue to have access to the W&L computing network through the month of June. However, all access to network databases, files, and printers will be withdrawn on 1 July 2009.
W&L’s Instructional Technology Services recommends “If you need files that you have stored on network servers, you must save those files to some type of recordable media (floppy, hard disk, CD or DVD, media ‘stick,’ etc.) or your new Outlook Live SkyDrive.”

Use of most of the commercial databases to which W&L libraries subscribe, such as JSTOR and LexisNexis Academic, is limited to current students, faculty, and staff.
However, W&L alumni, including members of the Class of 2009, now may use “Alumni Editions” of two commercial “article databases,” courtesy of our Friends of the Library group. Access is available through W&L’s Colonnade Connections resource for alumni.
New graduates will continue to have “lifetime W&L e-mail access” through their new Outlook e-mail accounts.
