W&L Databases from a Distance

As Washington and Lee undergraduate students flee for the Washington Break…

Please remember that W&L students, faculty, and staff have continuing access to our library subscription databases, such as JSTOR and Academic Search Complete, as well as other online sources in the our Web site, from off-campus locations.

So, if you are home over the break — or are trapped by snow somewhere! — but need to work on that research paper, you should be able to get to our research databases from just about any location.

Important: You must enter any such database by navigating through the library Web site: http://library.wlu.edu.

When you first attempt to get into a database through our Web site, you will be prompted to enter your network ID and password. Once you do that, the proxy server will recognize you as a member of the W&L community.

(You cannot take short-cuts directly to database sites, such as going straight to www.jstor.org.)

A more long-winded and multi-faceted explanation is available here.

Have a great break and be safe!
